Mysterious death of newly-wed girl

LAHORE, Sept 15: A newly wed girl was shot dead in mysterious circumstances in Shahdara on Friday morning. Police claimed that Shabbir Ahmad, who had divorced his two wives, had shot dead his third wife Shomaila, 20.

While Shabbir, in his initial statement to police, claimed that two robbers stormed into his house at about 1am and held the family at gunpoint.

“I tried to snatch the gun from one of the robbers but his accomplice opened fire and the bullet hit Shomaila,” police quoted Shabbir as saying.

“The robbers managed their escape while my wife died,” Shabbir added.

However, Shahdara police said it had recovered a rifle from Shabbir’s house after the incident.

Meanwhile, a case was registered against Shabbir on the complaint of Shomaila’s mother.

Shomaila, a resident of Sheikhupura, married Shabbir of Miraj Park few days ago.

EELCTROCUTED: A man was electrocuted on the roof of his friend’s house in Mughalpura.

Police said Shaukat Butt alias Kaka, 32, a resident of Usmanabad, went to the house of his friend Haji Raees Ahmad. He accidentally touched a wire while catching a pigeon and died on the spot.

He is survived by a wife and a son. — Reporter
