SANAA, Sept 15: Four bombers and a security guard were killed on Friday when Yemeni security forces foiled twin suicide bombings against oil installations just five days before elections.

The bombers, in explosives-laden cars, tried to attack an oil refinery in Maarib, a lawless tribal area in the desert east of the capital Sanaa, and a Canadian-run terminal in the south-eastern port of Dhabba.

Dhabba is not far from where the French supertanker Limburg was attacked in Oct 2002 by suspected Al Qaeda militants using a boat packed with explosives.—AFP
