QUETTA, Sept 14: Police have recovered a young man, kidnapped from Quetta Satellite Town last month for ransom, following an armed encounter with kidnappers in the border town Chaman.

Deputy Inspector-General Police Ghulam Qadir Theboo disclosed this at a press conference here on Thursday.

He said two members of the gang, including the ringleader, had been arrested.

Abdul Aziz, 22, was kidnapped on August 16 from outside his residence and the next day the kidnappers contacted his uncle Mohammad Ibrahim and demanded Rs15 million for his release.

However, Ibrahim informed police of their demand. A team headed by SP Wazir Khan Nasar raided a house in Chaman and arrested two members of the gang.

The SP said police also recovered two hand-grenades and automatic weapons from the house besides arresting accused Mohammad Khan and Naimatullah. “We are interrogating them and soon other members of the gang will also be arrested,” Mr Theboo said.

Replying to a question about the bicycle bomb explosion in which Principal Federal Government Public School Mrs Rifat Mehmood Farooqi was killed and 17 other were injured, the SP said investigation into the case were underway and people involved in it would soon be arrested.
