Several POs held with narcotics

GUJRANWALA, Sept 13: The highway patrol police claimed on Wednesday to have seized a cache of arms and narcotics from several proclaimed offenders and court fugitives who they arrested during a special campaign.

Regional police officer Malik M. Iqbal and patrol SP Dr Shahzad Aslam Siddiqui told journalists on Wednesday that the police had launched special campaign against the POs and CAs and arrested a dozen of them.

The police recovered six maunds of charas, 10 kilogram opium and 204 bottles of liquor, besides weapons in quantity and booty worth Rs150,000.

BAIL REJECTED: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 rejected on Wednesday the bail applications of accused Sikander Hayat and Walliat Husain who had attacked the worship place of Ahmadis in Mandi Bahauddin.

The court, however, accepted the bail application of another accused Mukhtar Ahmad who was arrested a few months ago.

At least seven people were killed and several others injured in the attack last year.
