Four drown in lake

DADU, Sept 11: Four people, who had gone to Sehwan Sharif for the Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, drowned while swimming in the Sapna Lake near the town’s fort on Monday.

The bodies of Fayaz Malik, 20, of North Nazimabad, Karachi; Asif, 25, of New Karachi; Ghulam Qadir, 40, of Mukhtiar Nangar village, Dadu; and Ashique Hussain, employee of the Edhi Centre, Sehwan, were takne out of the lake by lifeguards.

Haji Khan Otho told Dawn that the bodies had been sent to their homes by Edhi ambulances.

Jamshoro District Nazim Malik Asad Sekandar told Dawn that swimming in Indus River, Danisfer Aral Canals and Sapna Lake had been prohibited and police were ordered to enforce the order during the Urs.

He said that action would be taken against police officials who were on duty at the place.
