Yuvraj to miss first game

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11: Indian middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh has been ruled out of his team's first DLF Cup one-dayer due to illness. Yuvraj, a key batsman in the Indian one-day side, has a fever and doctors have advised him to rest for a few days.

“He will land (in Kuala Lumpur) on the morning of the 14th,” Indian cricket board secretary Niranjan Shah told reporters after a practice session ahead of India's first game against the West Indies on Thursday.

India's coach Greg Chappell said the series would give the Indian team much-needed match practice ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy. “We will treat this tournament as a practice for us ahead of the Champions Trophy,” he said.—AFP
