OKARA, Sept 10: About 12 wagons, comprising activists of the PPP and PML-N, managed to reach Lahore to participate in the ARD public meeting despite hurdles created by the local police on Sunday.

Reports said that the PPP’s main group was led by party’s district president and MPA Muhammad Ashraf Khan Sohana, Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf Sangoka, Alam Sher Lodhi and Ghias Muhammad Khan. While Abdul Sattar Wahla, Syed Ijaz Gilani and Rao Muhammad Rafique led the other group.

Similarly, one group of the PML-N was led by MPA Mian Yawar Zaman and the other by Mirza Naeem Banj.

They alleged that the Okara police had tried to block their way at Pul Jurian while transporters, at the beck and call of the police, charged from them almost three-fold fair for Lahore.
