Arrest of SHO ordered

Published September 8, 2006

LAHORE, Sept 7: The Lahore High Court on Thursday directed the Nankana DPO to arrest and produce the Shahkot SHO in handcuffs for not obeying the court order. The court had on Wednesday directed an ASI of the Shahkot police that the SHO should appear in person on Thursday with the relevant record of the case. But he did not turn up on which the court issued non-bailable warrants for the SHO’s arrest.

The court was proceeding on an appeal through which Razia Bibi had stated that the SHO had not arrested the policemen and the Elite Force personnel who entered her house last year and took away her husband, two daughters and the daughter-in-law.

She submitted that the police later registered false cases against her family members.

She had moved the LHC for the registration of criminal cases against 15 policemen and six Elite Force personnel. She submitted that despite her efforts, the police were not registering the case. The LHC ordered the Shahkot SHO on Oct 26 to register cases against the policemen, arrest and proceed against them according to the law.—Correspondent
