PESHAWAR, Sept 7: The Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) will set up a media cell to make public the scientific research, says PSF chairman Dr M.N. Butt. Speaking at the concluding session of a two-day workshop titled ‘Media and Science Awareness in the Knowledge Society’ here on Thursday, he said PSF was seeking assistance and cooperation of the media for this purpose.

The workshop was jointly organised by the PSF and Pakistan Scientific Technological Information Centre (Pastic) at the University of Peshawar.

He said the media cell would award prizes to the media people on articles and stories on science-related topics to encourage science journalism in the country.

“We are working on the PC-1 of a project to establish science clubs in 500 public sector schools in the country,” Dr Butt said.

Peshawar University Vice-Chancellor Prof Haroonur Rashid, Kohat University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor Dr Zabita Khan and Nageen Ainuddin of Pastic also spoke.
