PESHAWAR: Stress on rights awareness

PESHAWAR, Sept 7: Member of the provincial assembly Arshad Khan has asked people to hold their elected representatives accountable for non-solution of their problems.

Speaking at a seminar on ‘Strengthening of Democratic Institutions in Pakistan’ organised by the Job Creating Development Society in collaboration with the South Asia Partnership in Charsadda on Thursday, he emphasised the need for people to be aware of their rights.

“When people are aware of their problems, they can participate in the political process and monitor the performance of their elected representatives,” he said.

Tehsil Nazim Manzoor Bacha in his speech expressed concern over problems faced by the farming community. He said agriculture was the mainstay of the country’s economy, yet people associated with it were facing countless problems.

JCDS director Ali Akbar said they had launched a campaign for creating awareness among the farming community in collaboration SAF about news agricultural techniques.

He said the campaign was aimed to develop better relationship between the district government and farming community with a view to enhancing productivity.—Correspondent
