HYDERABAD, Sept 5: The Awami Tehrik has termed the killing of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti a glaring example of state terrorism and demanded that President General Pervez Musharraf should resign.

It appealed to the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of the incident and order impartial general elections in the country. It expressed the resolve to participate in the ongoing democratic struggle.

The central committee of the Awami Tehrik at a meeting held here on Tuesday discussed the political situation of the country following the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti and his followers. Rasool Bux Palijo presided over the meeting.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Mr Palijo said it was due to wrong policies of the government that many a new Akbar Bugti had taken birth. Even the people having differences with Nawab Akbar Bugti were united on one platform due to the wrong policies of the rulers, he added.

He announced that his party would take full part in the protest demonstration announced by the joint opposition parties for Sept 17, and added that a delegation of his party would leave here on Sept 13, for Quetta where it would remain for one week to express condolences with the Bugti family and take part in demonstrations.
