KARACHI: KWSB asked to plug leakages

Published September 2, 2006

KARACHI, Sept 1: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed the officials concerned to check the sewerage and water lines to ensure a smooth movement of people and traffic on the roads leading to graveyards as a large number of people would be visiting graveyards on Shab-i-Barat.

Speaking at a meeting of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board engineers in his office on Thursday night, he stressed on plugging all leakages in the lines before Shab-i-Barat, and said all facilities in this regard should be ensured.

He observed that since these lines had now become old, the occurrence of leakages was natural.

He asked the engineers to visit the lines twice a day and if they found any leakage, report the same immediately for repair work. He said that if the nazim concerned or MD of the Board did not get a report from them regarding a leakage reported by some source, then action would be taken against the XEN concerned.

The meeting was attended by KWSB MD Brig Iftekhar Haider and other officials.—APP
