Accident leaves 10 dead

VEHARI, Aug 31: Ten people were killed and 25 injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on the Lahore-Multan road, at a place 30km from here on Thursday.

The bus was coming from Lahore. When it reached near 79/10-R stop, a truck coming from the opposite side collided with it. As a result six people on the bus — driver Riaz Lodhi, gunman Tariq Mahmood, Riaz, Ejaz Qureshi, Ahsan Ali, Asad Bhatti and Rana Shahid — died on the spot. Four passengers, Muhsin, Saqlain, Aslam and Rameez, were seriously injured and were taken to the Nishtar Hospital Multan. They died on way to the hospital.

Other injured including Sarwar, Raja Gazanfar, Mazhar Abbas, Shakeela and her two children Bilal Ahmad and Ahsan, Tahir Javed, Jamil, Abdul Majeed, Mazhar Iqbal, Sajid Ali, Mohsan, Usman, Salman, Abida, Shah Mohammad and Ilyas, were taken to the DHQ Hospital, Khanewal and other hospitals.
