PESHAWAR, Aug 31: NWFP Minister for Sports, Culture and Tourism Hussain Ahmad Kanju has said the MMA government will arrange tours for students of government schools in rural and remote areas.

Chairing a presentation on activities of the department here on Thursday, he said the objectives of such tours would be to enhance interaction of students with people of other areas and acquaint them with cultures and values of different areas.

He said expenses of the tours would be borne by the provincial government.

Sports and tourism secretary A. Jalil Khan and sports director-general Maazullah Khan gave the presentation.

The minister was also briefed about establishment of a national sports academy in Swat, which had been proposed by former national tennis champion Zulfiqar Rahim.

Welcoming the proposal, the minister assured support of the provincial government in carrying out the project. He hoped the project would help explore talented students of the province. He said the government would facilitate and provide full security to the private sector for investment in the province.

He said efforts would be made to establish the proposed sports academy adjacent to the cadet college in the Kabal tehsil, which had recently been approved.—Online
