KARACHI, Aug 31: Five ships to load and offload containers, furnace oil, wheat and chemicals were accommodated berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Thursday.

Meanwhile, another ship carrying chemicals also arrived at the outer anchorage. Berth occupancy stood at 70pc as nine ships were busy in loading and offloading containers, cement, wheat, edible oil, furnace oil and chemicals.

Cargo handling was brisk totalling 92,967 tons comprising 61,101 tons of import and 31,866 tons of export tonnage.

Sailings were active as Maersk Peter Head, Acx Lavender, Ikan Selver, Warbah and Chemroad Wing left the port while Bavaria Express, Anette Kosan and Baltic Trader were due to depart.
