BD cop dies in clash

DHAKA, Aug 30: A police naik, Narayan Chandra Barman, 50, died of heart attack after being injured in a clash between the police and pro-strike pickets here on Wednesday.

Narayan, a member of the riot control division (west) of the Dhaka metropolitan police, was on duty during the countrywide strike, which was called by the opposition to protest the killing of five demonstrators near Phulbari coalmine in Dinajpur on Saturday.
