Tribesmen told to support Taliban

Published August 27, 2006

TANK, Aug 26: Tehrik-i-Talaba-i-Afghanistan, an offshoot of the Taliban, has warned 28 tribesmen of the South Waziristan Agency to stop working for the allied forces and support the Taliban movement.

A handbill with the appeal was distributed reportedly by Tehreek-i-Talaba-i-Afghanistan in Angoor Adda bordering Afghanistan on the night between Friday and Saturday.

The little-known organisation admitted killing an Indian engineer in Afghanistan early this year, saying that they had been offered $100,000 for releasing the Indian national.

“We refused the offer and killed him,” the handbill stated.

It identified at least 28 tribesmen of the agency as US spies.
