BAHAWALPUR, Aug 25: The PML leadership has pledged to play their role in strengthening Pakistan and making the party effective to deliver. They were speaking at a function organised by MPA Sitara Fayyaz in connection with the centenary celebrations of Pakistan Muslim League at Rashadia Hall here on Friday. Punjab Excise and Taxation Minister Dr Muhammad Shafiq was the chief guest while Minorities Minister Mrs Joyce Rufin and women wing president Sitara Fayyaz, parliamentary secretary Ajmal Joya, PML media coordinator Syed Tabish Alwari, secretary-general Salahuddin Jilani and others were the speakers.

They asked the workers to revive the spirit of 1947 to transform Pakistan into a welfare state as visioned by the Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Mrs Rufin said the chief minister had allocated Rs300 million for the renovation of minorities’ religious and worship places in the province.

Dr Shafique said the PML would safeguard the interests of the masses, including women.

Ms Fayyaz, who is also chairperson of Jahez (dowry) Committee, distributed dower among 100 orphan, poor and deserving girls.
