SWABI: Kidnapper commits suicide

SWABI, Aug 25: The NWFP police have launched an operation to find a boy kidnapped for ransom from Rawalpindi. The kidnappers abducted the son of a retired army officer from Askari Apartments in Rawalpindi and drove him to the Kar Mar mountains spread over Mardan and Swabi districts. They demanded Rs5 million for the release of the boy.

One of the kidnappers, Ikram, of Mansehra, is reported to have committed suicide during the operation while another, Abid of Jehangirpura, escaped.

Police have located the hideout place of the kidnappers from the telephone used for contacting the family of the boy.

Police have surrounded the area to apprehend the remaining kidnappers and recover the boy.
