PESHAWAR, Aug 23: Doctors on Thursday expressed concern over the kidnapping of a surgeon and called for his immediate recovery. The demand was made in a meeting of the Malgari Doctors’ Association here on Wednesday. The meeting expressed anguish over the kidnapping for ransom of Dr Ayaz Khan, assistant professor at the orthopaedic ward of the Khyber Teaching Hospital from Dabgari Gardens two days ago and asked the government to ensure his immediate recovery.

The incident, it said, had sent a wave of resentment among the doctors who felt insecure while performing their duties. The meeting warned that protest demonstrations and strikes might be staged if the doctor was not recovered safely.—Correspondent
