ISLAMABAD, Feb 11: The makeshift Jalozai refugee camp will formally be closed on Tuesday (today) in the presence of UNHCR Deputy Repre_sentative to Pakistan Eva Demant and the commissioner for Afghan refugees as the last convoy leaves for Barkili.

The transfer from Jalozai, which is described as a squalid, treeless site, became possible following an agreement between the UNHCR and the NWFP authorities.

Speaking at a news conference here on Monday, UNHCR spokesperson Melita Sunjic said 535 refugees scheduled for relocation last Thursday had finally been shifted to Shalman on Sunday.
