PR asked to improve sanitation

LAHORE, Aug 20: Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Sunday directed the Lahore divisional superintendent to improve cleanliness and carry out repairs of various facilities being provided to commuters at the Lahore station.

During a surprise visit to the Lahore station, the minister inspected various offices of the railway officials, information booth, rest rooms and canteen. He also visited different coaches of the trains stationed there and mingled with passengers to get first-hand information.

On the complaint of a passenger that he had been overcharged on soft drinks, the minister raided the refreshment booth and ordered DS Muhammad Khalid to impose a fine on the contractor. He also directed the DS to ensure that rate lists were properly displayed at all the stalls at the railway station. — Staff Reporter
