15 houses bulldozed to widen road

PESHAWAR, Aug 20: The city district government on Sunday demolished 15 houses to widen the city circular road.

District Nazim Haji Ghulam Ali supervised the operation and inspected the pace of work.

He told newsmen that 10 more houses would be demolished for the purpose.

The nazim said that a grand operation against encroachments on Charsadda road would be launched on Wednesday.

He said that the district government would also demolish a portion of its own office to open up the road for traffic.

People, gathered on the occasion, appreciated the district government’s initiative for widening congested roads of the city. The nazim said that the chief minister has released Rs140 million for widening of the city circular road.

He thanked the people for cooperating with the district government for widening of road.

He said the government has compensated all those whose houses or shops have been demolished due to widening of roads.—APP
