ISLAMABAD, Aug 20: The process of distribution and collection of forms for enrolment of voters to prepare new electoral rolls will be completed by September 11, said Secretary Election Commission Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad here on Sunday.

Mr Dilshad told APP that after the completion of forms distribution and collection by enumerators, assistant registration officers would accomplish the task assigned to them by October 6.

The process of forms distribution had started on July 29, a day after the door-to-door enumeration of households had been completed. The Election Commission official said after completion of the whole process, final electoral rolls would be published on May 30, 2007.

He said a team of 144 registration officers, 2,237 assistant registration officers, 28,992 supervisors and 86,740 enumerators had been trained for the enumeration process. About 500 judges of local courts would be appointed at the district level to hear complaints and objections, he added.

He said that assistant election commissioners were working as registration officers in districts, while staff from the education department had been rendering services as assistant registration officers, supervisors and enumerators.—APP
