JACOBABAD, Aug 20: Three breaches occurred in three canals on Saturday.

Reports reaching here said that a 30-foot wide breach occurred in the Bagan Khan Jamali canal, another 30-foot wide breach in the Iddan wah and yet another 20-foot wide breach in the Dil Murad Seerwah canal.

The water flowing out of the breach submerged the Juman Bakhshlani village forcing people to move to safe places. Crops standing on hundreds of acres of land were also destroyed. The villagers plugged the breaches on self-help basis.

Later, a protest procession was taken out from the Rehan Khan village which marched on main thoroughfares and reached Garhi Khairo. The protesters were raising slogans against officials and staff of the irrigation department.

The protesters warned to continue their protest if action was not taken against the responsible irrigation officials.
