London terror plan suspect arrested

BAHAWALPUR, Aug 16: Law enforcing agencies here arrested Motiur Rahman, who carried Rs10 million head money, it is learnt here on Wednesday. The authorities have been keeping mum over the issue. Sources, however, said Motiur Rahman had been named in the London terror plan along with main accused Rashid Rauf, already in custody.

It is learnt that Motiur Rahman was also wanted for attempt on President Gen Pervez Musharraf last year and involvement in several sectarian terrorism cases in the country.

Motiur Rahman belongs to Rajkan, near Yazman, about 30 kilometres from here.

He was an activist of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi and also known as Husain Tariq and Abdul Samad.

Besides, four close relatives of Maulana Masood Azhar of the banned Jaish-i-Muhammad, who is mysteriously hiding for the last two years, have also been arrested by different agencies here. Those arrested are; Maulana Masood’s brother Maulana Rauf Azhar, father-in-law Manzoor Shah and brothers-in-law Muhammad Yousaf and Hafiz Abid Husain.
