India’s criminal calendar

NEW DELHI, Feb 11: Police in the northern Indian city of Gorakhpur have elevated wanted criminals to calendar models in order to bring them to justice, reports said on Monday.

The United News of India reported that instead of the usual glamour girls and Hindu gods, the Gorakhpur city police printed calendars with the faces of criminals and distributed it for free.

The decision to have calenders with denizens of the underworld was made by city police chief Vijay Kumar to help people identify the criminals so they can inform police.—dpa
