KARACHI, Aug 16: At least 21 vehicles and 54 cell phones were either snatched or stolen by bandits on a day when personal secretary to the Sindh Home Minister also fell prey to cell phone snatching and was shot at early Wednesday morning.

Idress Ghazi, personal secretary of the Sindh Home Minister, was returning home in Kharadar when unknown armed men intercepted him depriving him of cell phone and cash. As he attempted to resist the bandits, they shot him in his arm and fled.

Police said two cars were snatched at gunpoint on Wednesday and four were stolen. Similarly, seven motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint and eight were stolen in different parts of the city.

Twenty-four people were deprived of their cell phones by bandits at gunpoint and 26 phones were stolen while four handsets were reported missing on Wednesday.

A doctor called up Dawn offices to say that now cell phones are being stolen from clinics in the city. Dr Faisal Zia lost his phone as he left his seat for a minute or two to attend a patient.
