KARACHI, Aug 15: Two men were shot dead in different parts of the city on Tuesday.

A transport worker was gunned down by unknown persons in SITE early on Tuesday morning.

Police said that Fareed Khan, 50, was on his motorcycle when he was shot at. Quoting the statements of eyewitnesses, police said that the attackers, who were traveling in a car, fled after the incident.

SITE TPO said that the victim suffered five bullets and died on the spot. He described the incident as result of some personal enmity. Following the incident, the body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination.

In Gulshan-i-Iqbal, a man was shot dead by an office-bearer of apartment’s welfare association.

Police said that a watchman of Rufi Apartments, Mirza Mukhtar Beg, was removed from his job sometime back. On Tuesday, he returned to the apartment where he had an altercation with an office-bearer of the apartment union, Mirza Aziz Beg. After exchange of words, Aziz Beg reportedly shot at Mukhtar. The victim was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Later, his body was referred to the Jinnah hospital for postmortem examination.

Police said that the suspect, Aziz, was absconding following the incident.

ARREST: Police arrested one of the suspects, who had deprived a man of his cellphone in Kharadar. Police said that Qaiser Shah was deprived of his cellphone at the Tower singal in Kharadar police limits. He informed the nearby policemen who chased the suspects and arrested one of them, identified as Shamsur Rehman. Police also recovered cellphones, pistol and a dagger from his possession.
