DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 8: Militants fired a rocket that landed near a military base in a tribal region near Wana but no one was hurt, an official said on Tuesday. The rocket slammed into a field close to the base housing army and paramilitary troops, the main town in South Waziristan tribal region, bordering Afghanistan, said an area government official on condition of anonymity. Troops combed the area around the base following the attack on Monday, finding three other rockets positioned to be launched toward the military facility but they were defused, he said. Security officials have said that suspected Al Qaeda-linked fighters.—AP
