LARKANA, Aug 8: People of different localities of union council-2 staged a procession to protest against non-supply of drinking water in Qambar town on Monday. The protestors led by union council nazims, Liaquat Gopang and Muhammed Ali Hakiro, marched on the main streets of the town before assembling in front of the local press club.

They said that the residents of Gharib Abad, Brohi mohalla, Imambargah mohalla, Gaosala mohalla and many other localities in union council-2 had not been supplied drinking water since 15 days.

The situation had forced them to drink highly brackish water, which had caused abdominal diseases because, they said, they could not afford sweet water cans. They feared that if the situation persisted, it might lead to an outbreak of gastroenteritis.

It was learnt that the water supply had been discontinued after underground pipelines were damaged and the municipal authorities had so far failed to repair them.

FIR: A father accused in an FIR on Monday that Idress and Safdar Bhutto had sexually assaulted his 22-year-old dumb daughter, Waheeda.

Ramzan Bhutto, a resident of Masoo Bhutto village of Qambar district said in the FIR that he learnt about the assault after his daughter complained of abdominal pain and an ultrasound was carried out to diagnose it.
