SUKKUR: Power outage follows rain

Published August 6, 2006

SUKKUR, Aug 5: The entire city and its adjoining areas plunged into darkness on Saturday evening as soon as the first drops of the first rains of monsoon season landed on the district’s soil.

Giving reasons for the power outage, an official of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) claimed that the company had to do it to save the grid stations and other sensitive installations from damage.

But the officials posted at grid stations contradicted their colleague’s statement saying that they were busy locating a fault developed in a line.

The power supply was not restored by the time this report was filed with people continuing to face humid weather prevailing after light showers.
