PESHAWAR, Aug 3: NWFP Minister for Auqaf Maulana Amanullah Haqqani has said that in order to provide protection to the residents of Hayatabad Township, a boundary wall will be constructed around it at all costs.

He said it was a longstanding demand of the people of Hayatabad, a posh township adjoining tribal areas. All hindrances in this regard would be removed and action would be taken against those creating hindrances, he added.

Addressing at the ‘Guest Hour’ programme at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, MMA leader Maulana Haqqani denied allegations that he had been bribed to pave way for the construction of a boundary wall, and asked the accusers to come up with proofs.

In line with the Hayatabad master plan, a wall around it was a must, he said, adding that as an elected representative of the area, he would never ever compromise on the issue.

He claimed that during the last four years, Auqaf property worth millions of rupees had been taken back from the land mafia. “This includes the retrieval of 11 kanals in Peshawar city which is a great achievement of the MMA government,” he said.

He said during the government of former premier Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, all quotas had been cancelled.
