LIVERPOOL, England, Feb 10 - A mis-hit volley by French striker Sylvain Wiltord gave Arsenal a 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park Sunday to keep them hot on the heels of the top three in the English Premier League.

Wiltord, who had barely been involved in the first hour of a desperately poor game, got the only goal in the 62nd minute when he miscued an attempted volley but succeeded in looping the ball over stranded goalkeeper Steve Simonsen.

The win takes fourth-placed Arsenal to 51 points, one behind Newcastle United and Liverpool and three behind leaders Manchester United, who won 2-0 at Charlton Athletic earlier on Sunday.

It was a second successive home defeat for 15th-placed Everton, whose only real chance came after just 13 minutes when newly-signed debutant David Ginola clipped a post with a curling free kick.
