Published August 3, 2006

KARACHI, Aug 2: Several localities will continue to face water shortage due to 15-mgd less than the normal supply from Gharo pumping station, hit by power breakdown since July 29.

A spokesman for the KWSB said that power supply to Gharo pumping station had not been restored till Wednesday evening and water supply from it to the city was partially continued through electricity generator.

The Gharo pumping station supplies 30-mgd water to the localities of Shah Faisal Town.

About supply of muddy water to several localities of the metropolis, he said that normally mud mixed into water in open canals supplying water to pumping stations during rainy seasons but it was safe for drinking as it was chlorinated properly.—PPI
