SUKKUR: A six-year-old girl lost her life and her uncle suffered critical wounds in an attack allegedly by the family’s rivals in a land dispute in Pannu Aqil taluka on Friday.

Residents of Ghulam Rasool Teghani village, where the attack took place, told police and media personnel that the assailants opened fire on the man, Punhal Teghani, leaving him critically wounded. His niece, Hajani, also received a bullet wound and died on the spot, they said.

The bereaved family alleged that the attack was carried out by their rivals in a dispute over a piece of agricultural land, situated in the riverine area of Sadhoja.

The two victims were rushed to the Pannu Aqil Taluka Hospital, where a postmortem of the girl’s body was performed and Punhal Teghani was provided emergency treatment. He was later referred to the Sukkur Civil Hospital for advanced medical treatment.
