RAWALPINDI: The Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (Iesco) has introduced a QR code-based payment facility, enabling consumers to pay their electricity bills and all types of demand notices by scanning the QR codes printed on the respective documents.

According to a spokesman for Iesco, the federal government, through the Ministry of Energy (Power Division), is committed to promoting digitisation, transparency and the delivery of efficient, modern and customer-friendly services across the power sector.

In line with this vision and the directions of the minister for energy, the QR system has been launched, he said.

Iesco Chief Executive Officer Engr. Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood stated that the facility will make payments faster, easier and more convenient while promoting transparency and accuracy in the collection process.

To make a payment, he said consumers simply need to open their banking online application or mobile wallet, scan the QR code printed on their original electricity bill or demand notices, verify the payable amount and complete the transaction.

He advised consumers to scan only the QR codes printed on their original Iesco bills and demand notices and to verify the payment details carefully before completing any transaction. The QR code payment facility is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing consumers to make payments anytime without the need to visit payment centres.
