ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday said that development work in E-12 continued at full pace and so far 60 per cent work has been completed.

The sector was launched in 1989 but despite the passage of 37 years, its development work has not been completed.

Meanwhile, a large number of initial allottees of plots passed away during these 37 years. Besides other factors, adverse possession of land was the major reason.

However, CDA says that in a recent operation 1135 kanals was retrieved and now development work was on track.

“After the retrieval of 1135 kanals of Government land in Sector E-12 that had been pending for four decades, full-scale work on the sector’s development is underway. Overall, more than 60 percent of the development work has been completed so far,” read a press release issued by CDA.

It said that on direction of CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf, development activities were continuing rapidly in E-12 by the relevant departments. “In Sector E-12/4, earthwork has been completed, while work on the base, sub-base and drainage is progressing rapidly. Earthwork on the Service Road, Khayaban-e-Iqbal, has been completed, while earthwork on the South and East Service Roads has also been completed. Similarly, work on the base and drainage is also proceeding swiftly,” the press release added.

It said in E-12/3, triple service treatment (TST) - road construction - has been completed in 15 streets, while work on earthwork and base work is rapidly continuing in the remaining streets.

“Similarly, in Sector E-12/2, TST has been completed in 25 streets, while earthwork and base work are rapidly progressing in the remaining streets. Meanwhile, in Sector E-12/1, TST has been completed in 25 streets, while earthwork is underway in the remaining streets.”

“Completion of development work in Sector E-12 and other sectors is among the top priorities of the CDA administration. All available resources are being utilized for the early completion of the project,” the CDA chief said.

He added that development of the sector will not only provide better residential facilities to citizens but will also contribute to the overall development of the city. “In view of the growing population, meeting the residential needs of the Federal Capital Islamabad is among our top priorities.”

Recently, CDA has set the target of completing the entire development work in this sector within six months.
