KHAR (Bajaur Agency): Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto today [Nov 2] said he would change the face of Pakistan, particularly the Tribal Areas, during the next five years, if he is given an opportunity again to represent them. He addressed two big public meetings at Lakarai … in Mohmand Agency, and Khar … in Bajaur Agency, and an unscheduled meeting in Nawagai on the first day of his tour of the Tribal Areas after inspecting development projects which included roads, hospitals, schools... . Amidst prolonged applause, [he] declared that he would continue to serve the people and would not hesitate to lay down his life for their cause. He said a lot was being done by the present Government for the tribesmen. He was, however, conscious that the Tribal Area had not developed proportionate to the other areas. … [He] criticised the elements inciting parochialism on the pretext of promoting Pakhtoon interests and asked as to what they had really done for the Pakhtoons. …

These elements sought to escape from their obligations to the people and the nation. “You should not tell us as to how long you remained in jail, but what you have done for the Pakhtoons,” he told them. — News agencies
