KARACHI: Ain Aurat, Meem Mard, the latest prose work by distinguished actress Uzma Gillani, was launched at a ceremony held here.

Ms Gillani, who currently resides in Australia, came to Karachi to attend the ceremony presided over by eminent poetess Zehra Nigah at the Defence Authority Club.

The book explores the delicate and nuanced aspects of humanity, society and human relations centred around social attitudes and gender balance.

Reflecting on her long artistic journey, personal observations and life experiences, Ms Gillani has thoughtfully written about mutual respect, relationships and social responsibilities between men and women.

Speaking on the occasion, she said: “Traveling all the way from Australia to Karachi just for this book launch and to meet all of you is a deeply emotional moment for me. This book is not merely a collection of pages, but the voice of my heart and the culmination of years of observations. My endeavour has been to highlight balance, love and the importance of mutual existence between women and men, rather than placing them in opposition to one another.”

Speakers including Ms Nigah, Noor-ul-Huda Shah, Munawar Saeed, Bushra Ansari and others praised her initiative and noted that after proving her immense talent on screen through unforgettable acting, she has now captivated readers with the magic of her pen, making this book a valuable addition to Urdu literature.

Other prominent personalities including Nabeel Zafar, Aijaz Aslam, Khaled Anam, Noor-ul-Hassan and Khushbakht Shujaat also attended the event and warmly appreciated Ms Gillani’s literary endeavours.

Ain Aurat, Meem Mard is available at all leading bookstores across the country and its digital edition will soon be launched online.
