MANSEHRA: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) central emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, in consultation with the party’s divisional leadership, has notified district emirs across Hazara division for a two-year term as part of a reorganisation and expansion of the party’s organisational structure.

“We have bifurcated the existing units and given them the status of administrative districts. The central emir has notified their emirs for the next two years,” JI Hazara divisional president Abdul Razzaq Abbasi told reporters on Thursday.

Flanked by the newly appointed office-bearers, Mr Abbasi said the party aimed to expand its organisational network to strengthen its outreach to the public. He said additional administrative units were being created within existing districts, with separate emirs appointed to oversee their affairs.

He said Mansehra, the division’s largest district in terms of geographical area, had been divided into three administrative units. Jamil Ahmad Jehangiri had been appointed emir of Mansehra Central, Shakeel Ahmad emir of Balakot and Abdul Ghani Mughal emir of Oghi.

Mr Abbasi said Razzaq Abbasi had been appointed emir of Haripur, Maulana Obaidur Rehman emir of Abbottabad, Maulana Attaur Rehman emir of Allai, Anwar Baig emir of Battagram, Dr Siraj emir of Torghar, Saeed Akbar emir of Lower Kohistan, Mohammad Qasim emir of Kolai-Palas and Sirajuddin emir of Upper Kohistan.

He said tehsil and union council-level bodies would work under the district emirs to improve public outreach and strengthen the party’s role in the ongoing agitation against the petroleum levy.

According to Mr Abbasi, the two-year terms of the newly notified district emirs would begin on Nov 1.
