KARACHI: Four suspected robbers were gunned down in two alleged encounters in the metropolis, police said on Monday.

Two suspected robbers were gunned down in an alleged encounter near Shahra-i-Bhutto, within the limits of Korangi Industrial Area police station.

Police said they acted on a tip-off about the presence of suspects and conducted a raid on Causeway Road. As the police party reached the area, the armed suspects allegedly opened fire. In the ensuing exchange of fire, both suspects were gunned down.

They were identified as Amir Ali and Shahid Husain. Two 9mm pistols and mobile phones were recovered from their possession. Police claimed that the suspects were involved in robberies along Shahra-i-Bhutto.

In another “encounter,” two suspected robbers were gunned down in North Karachi on Sunday night.

Khawaja Ajmer Nagri SHO Farrukh Hashmi said police received information that two suspects were moving suspiciously near Rehmania Mor in Sector 3-5-B. When the police party reached the area, the suspects emerged from a street on a motorcycle. The policemen chased them, and in the ensuing exchange of fire, both suspects were gunned down on the spot.

Two pistols, a motorcycle and mobile phones were recovered from their possession. The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities, where the identities of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.

On Monday, police identified the deceased as Mateen Raza alias Mohammed Hasan and Mohammed Aqeel. Both had previous criminal records, with multiple FIRs registered against them at different police stations.

The motorcycle recovered from their possession had been snatched within the limits of Aram Bagh police station on August 13, 2026. Similarly, two of the recovered mobile phones had been snatched within the limits of Gulshan-i-Iqbal and Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police stations, respectively.
