LAHORE: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) intends to field more than 5,000 candidates in the provincial metropolis in the forthcoming local government elections.

This was stated by the party’s Lahore President Faisal Mir at a convention of intending local government poll candidates.

He hoped that the PPP candidates would be elected to the offices of Saddar Town and Wagah Town “mayors”.

PPP leader and former MNA Samina Khalid Ghurki said the party candidates would contest on union council seats in both towns in the upcoming local government elections.

She also expressed confidence that the PPP would reclaim its national and provincial assembly seats in the area.
