TOBA TEK SINGH: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), in collaboration with the Punjab Agriculture Department, will mobilise around 30,000 students to visit farmers’ fields across six divisions of Punjab from Oct 30 to Nov 8 as part of a 10-day wheat campaign.

The initiative aims to promote timely sowing, efficient use of agricultural inputs, climate-smart farming and modern cultivation practices to boost wheat productivity and safeguard food security.

According to a press release, students will visit Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sahiwal, Sargodha and Faisalabad divisions.

UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Zulfiqar Ali said direct engagement with farmers would help bridge the gap between agricultural research and its practical application by taking scientific knowledge to the grassroots level.

Dr Ghulam Murtaza said the campaign would familiarise students with practical challenges in wheat cultivation, including seed selection, timely sowing, efficient irrigation, fertiliser management and pest control.

PARADE: The 15th passing-out parade was held at the National Highways and Motorway Police Training College in Sheikhupura, where 436 officers, including 47 women, completed their training.
