Rawalpindi: The first Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET) 2026, organised by the Punjab government for admission to postgraduate medical residency training programmes, was conducted at Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) on Sunday, with 1,531 candidates appearing in the examination.

The examination was conducted jointly by the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, and Rawalpindi Medical University, providing aspiring postgraduate doctors an opportunity to compete for Level-III residency training positions in various medical specialities at teaching hospitals under the administrative control of the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SHC&ME), Government of Punjab.

The examination proceeded smoothly in a transparent, orderly and disciplined environment, with no irregularities reported by candidates. A representative of the SHC&ME was also present to monitor the examination and ensure departmental oversight of the process.

Comprehensive arrangements were made at RMU’s Tipu Road Campus to accommodate the large number of candidates and ensure the efficient management of the examination.

The Rawalpindi District Administration extended support by deploying dedicated teams from the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC), Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (Pera) and Rescue 1122.

RMU Vice Chancellor Professor Mohammad Suhail Amin, who also served as the regional head for the examination, visited the examination centres to review the arrangements and observe the conduct of the test.

He expressed satisfaction with the overall management and appreciated the professional approach and coordinated efforts of the institutions involved in ensuring the successful completion of the examination.

The vice chancellor particularly commended the UHS examination team, including Controller of Examinations Prof Mohammad Abbas, for its effective coordination and contribution to the smooth conduct of the test under the leadership of UHS Vice Chancellor Prof Suhail Sabir.
