LAHORE: Special Assistant for Food Safety Salma Butt has been appointed as provincial minister and assigned the portfolio of Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department.

Following Punjab governor’s nod on the advice of the chief minister, Ms Butt (an MPA nominated on a woman’s reserve seat W-307) has been notified as provincial minister.

Ms Butt took the oath of office of the provincial minister on Thursday.

RESHUFFLED: The Punjab government on Thursday shuffled five senior officers.

Ali Jan Khan (PAS/BS-21), awaiting posting in S&GAD, has been posted as Punjab School Education Department secretary replacing Mudassar Riaz Malik. The school education department secretary post shall remain upgraded from BS-20 to BS-21 as personal to Mr Khan as long as it is held by him.

Mr Malik has been directed to report to the S&GAD for further orders.

Punjab Youth Affairs and Sports Department Secretary Fazalur Rehman has been posted as member, Planning and Development Board, Punjab, against an existing vacancy. Sahiwal Division Commissioner Dr Asif Tufail has been transferred and posted as Youth Affairs and Sports Department secretary.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has cancelled its orders transferring/ posting Punjab Wildlife and Parks DG retired Capt Muhammad Waseem as DG, (Food) Cane Commissioner for Punjab. Instead, it has transferred PDMA DG Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa and posted him as DG (Food) Cane Commissioner, Punjab, against a vacant post.
