ISLAMABAD: Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Afzal Majoka has sentenced a man to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined him Rs1 million after convicting him of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.

The court announced the verdict after hearing arguments from both sides in a case registered at Shalimar Police Station under Section 377-B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The court ruled that the convict, Jahanzeb Mushtaq, would undergo an additional six months in prison in case of non-payment of the fine. It however extended to him the benefit of Section 382-B of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which allows the period already spent in custody to be taken into account towards the sentence.

In a separate case involving the blackmailing of a 12-year-old girl and the sharing of her indecent images, the same court sentenced two men, Tayyab Shahzad and Zeeshan Haider, to a total of 10 years in prison each and imposed fines of Rs2 million on each convict.

The court handed down the sentences after concluding arguments in the case registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on the complaint of the girl’s father.

Under Section 22, each convict was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined Rs1 million. They were also awarded three years’ imprisonment and fined another Rs1 million each under Section 24.

The court sentenced both men to a total of 10 years’ imprisonment each, along with fines of Rs2 million each, in connection with the blackmailing and circulation of the minor girl’s indecent images.
