RAWALPINDI: A civil judge was critically injured after allegedly being attacked by an advocate in the judicial complex on Tuesday.

An FIR was registered against the suspect under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Civil Lines police station. The FIR was sealed by the police.

The judge, identified as M.M., was shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH). The doctors used five to six stitches to close the cuts on his head.

Police were deployed at the hospital to ensure the security of the judge, police sources said, adding that the injured judge underwent a medico-legal examination and after obtaining its report the FIR was registered.

According to sources, the incident happened after an exchange of words, and the advocate identified as A.N. reportedly picked up a glass and threw it towards the judge, causing cuts on his head, followed by bleeding.

Meanwhile, police have taken President of Municipal Labour Union Raja Haroon Rasheed into custody in connection with a May 9 violence case, a police source said.

He was taken into custody from the office of TMA Rawalpindi and shifted to the City Police Station for further investigation.
