DECINES-CHARPIEU: Olympique Lyonnais came from behind to beat Nice 2-1 at home on Sunday and move top of a tightly packed Ligue 1 table.

Lyon are one of five teams on 14 points after seven games but lead on goal difference after Pavel Sulc and American midfielder Tanner Tessmann cancelled out Elye Wahi’s opener for Nice.

Lyon, who played the last 20 minutes with 10 men after substitute Keito Nakamura was dismissed for a dangerous studs-up challenge, survived a late scare when Wahi had an effort ruled out for offside four minutes into stoppage time.

Lyon, with a goal difference of plus eight, sit ahead of defending champions Paris St Germain, Paris FC and Lille, all on plus five, and AS Monaco on plus four.

It was a close run affair for Lyon, playing in front of local boy and French cycling prodigy Paul Seixas.

Ivory Coast forward Wahi, who opened the scoring for Nice on 18 minutes with his second goal of the season, was denied an injury-time equaliser by a razor-tight offside call.

Two goals in three minutes turned the game around by half-time as Sulc equalised by prodding home a rebound and Tessmann headed the hosts in front.

Veteran Belgium midfielder Axel Witsel headed against the bar early in the second half while Wahi hit the post with a close-range header, shortly after Nakamura was dismissed for a high boot.
