GUJRAT: As many as 1,350 students completed different information technology-related courses under “Bano Qabil” programme of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) here on Friday.

Of these, around 60pc of the students are females, who were provided IT training during the last nine months under the JI initiative in Gujrat.

JI Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman was the chief guest at the graduation ceremony. Some 50 students, who secured top positions in their respective courses, were given laptops at the ceremony.

Speaking to the participants, the JI emir said the country’s outdated and expensive education system had failed to provide quality education to the masses, with nearly 27.5 million children are not attending school.

He said while 52pc of the Class IX students in Punjab failed to pass the exam, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz travelled to London to attend her daughter’s graduation ceremony.

Rehman urged young people to join the JI in demanding free and quality education, stressing that providing education was the state’s responsibility. “Unfortunately, the elite have captured the country’s resources.

He said the JI is pursuing its struggle for systemic change, while also taking practical steps to equip young people with skills and opportunities.

JI North Punjab Emir Dr Tariq Saleem, Gujrat district chief Ansar Dhool and Alkhidmat president Muhammad Rizwan also addressed the ceremony.

Mr Rehman distributed certificates among the graduating students.
